Despite the record thus far I'm pretty happy with how the Devils have been playing. Every game has been very close, and all against decent to very good teams. |

The reality is the team needs a stud defender and poaching Fowler from the Ducks should be the priority. Or go in hard for Shattenkirk.
Not sure who's the problem on the Moore-Lovejoy pairing. Moore struggled last year playing up this high but has looked less crappy then Lovejoy to me. I'd try moving Quincey up to play with one of these two (maybe give them both a shot wtih Kyle) and bring in Santini to take his spot on the third pair. Give the odd man out a night off.
God Bless Cory because the team goals against is pretty tiny but that's thanks to him and almost him alone. |

Devils need to switch up lines and stick with them for a couple of games. I think the first line (zajac and pa) are to slow to keep up with hall. Either henrique goes back up to the top line or replace PA with palmieri. There u have hall with good defensive center and a winger in palmieri who can keep up with him,can shoot and has chmistry with zajac. Camelleri - rico - PA should make it work. I just dont like the fact that your best shooters (cam-palms) are both on the same line. Spread the wealth. Also the pp, its seems like its just designated for palmieri to shot. I dont see anyone else taking a shot in his unit . |

I'd strongly consider sitting Moore. Lovejoy has been good on the PK but I'm not sure what Moore is bringing to the table. We gotta see Santini at some point and I think Moore is the first candidate to get scratched.
I thought Greene had a really rough night and slow start to the season overall. He's been so smooth and consistent the last few years so the expectations are high, but he's looked really rusty.
Loved Zacha's and Severson's games last night. Happy to see them getting the minutes they've earned.
Our 5 vs. 5 play is awful. Plain and simple. Can't sustain any type of attack. |

Competition has been good, but last nights goal and the two in TB were both kinda fluky. Combine that with the lack of scoring 5 v 5 and I think there are underlying concerns here.
Schneider gives them a chance to win each night, but offense has to pick it up. |

It stinks, he's been very active and IMO been in some good spots but has he not flubbed the puck once this season? Out of everyone I feel like he's been getting some golden chances but he has messed up pretty much every single one. |

That sums up my thoughts on this season so far, in the few games we've seen I've noticed a huge improvement of how new jersey operates in their own zone, but they have no creativity or ability to speed their way in and create space. Every time we take the puck into their zone it's predictable and I feel like teams are gonna view are offense as almost harmless when hall isn't on the ice, obviously still much more hockey to be played but hynes put together just about every combination imaginable and nothing really worked. Gonna be a rough one, anyone who stands out in this draft class that we might pick up with a high pick? |

Their offense is terrible again. Possibly worse. I don't see any reason to be happy so far. Schneider has been awesome like usual. That's about it. |

He's been one of the worst on the team so far IMO. He really needs to figure it out. |

I'd try putting Camm on his off wing with Hall and Henrique. Try to spark some offense. Camm and Hall are both creative enough to set each other up. Anything at all to score some goals. 30th in the league, again. |

What do you all think about these for lines next season
Hall-Zacha-Palmieri
Henrique-Zajac-Cammalleri
Quenneville-McLeod-Blandisi
Woods-Speers-DSP
Trade Boucher+Bennet+PAP at deadline if not in playoff picture for defensive help

Andrew Gross wrote that if they activate Kalinin they need to clear a roster spot so someone is getting sent down. Most likely Speers or Woods based on waiver status. It's concerning to see Boucher out again. Why does Speers get a look on the top line over him?
I'd like to see Kalinin-Fiddler-DSP on the 4th in a game. |

Great blog Todd
Any idea when tippet will go in the first round? - shvingter88
I think top 10. Maybe 5.
Patrick, that defenseman, some Russian guy, Vivadi or something, then maybe Tippet.
Edit: According to ISS he's ranked 11.
Patrick, Liljegren, Vilardi, Kostin(Russian guy)

Apparently Chicago is actively shopping TVR for a bottom 6 forward. Can't say I would mind |
